Star Networking Services

Structured Cabling Products & Accessories — Chennai

12 products available

Star Networking Services supplies the passive half of a network in Chennai — Cat6 UTP cable, patch cords, information outlets and keystone jacks, RJ45 connectors, face plates, patch panels, wall-mount racks, cable managers, PDUs and fiber patch cords from Molex, Honeywell, CommScope, D-Link, Netrack and Netfox. Established in 1998, we bring 27+ years of experience in structured cabling and networking, and we install, test and certify what we supply, with 24×7 technical support and annual maintenance contracts behind it. Structured cabling is the one layer nobody re-does cheaply — it goes in the walls first and comes out last, which is why we quote the whole passive list rather than the cable alone.

Patch Panel or Direct to the Switch? Why Terminating Properly Pays

Patch Panel or Direct to the Switch? Why Terminating Properly Pays

Skipping the patch panel saves a line on the quote and costs you every time the network changes. What a panel actually buys you, and the one case where going direct is defensible.

How Many Patch Cords Do I Need, and What Length?

Two per outlet is the rule, but the lengths are where sites go wrong. Why buying one long size for everything costs you a failed certification, and how to work out a sensible mix.

How Much Cat6 Cable Do I Need? Working It Out From the Outlet Count

Cable is bought by the box and estimated by the room, which is why sites run short. A method that starts from outlets rather than floor area, with the wastage allowance that stops a second delivery.

Copper-Clad Aluminium vs Pure Copper Cat6: Why It Matters on PoE

CCA cable is cheaper, legal to sell, and not compliant with the Cat6 standard. What actually differs, why the gap only shows up once you put power on the cable, and how to tell which one you are being quoted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which is the best structured cabling accessories supplier in Chennai?

Judge it on whether the supplier quotes the full passive list from your outlet count rather than just the cable, and whether they can test and certify what they supply. Star Networking Services has supplied and installed structured cabling in Chennai since 1998, 27+ years, across more than 300 projects, stocking Molex, Honeywell, CommScope and D-Link with bulk pricing, GST invoicing, AMC and 24×7 technical support.

Do you supply Cat6 cables and connectors in bulk for Chennai businesses?

Yes. We supply Cat6 UTP cable, patch cords, information outlets, keystone jacks, face plates, patch panels and RJ45 connectors in bulk with GST invoicing for structured cabling contractors and businesses across Chennai. Send the outlet count or the BOQ and we will quote line by line.

What is the difference between active and passive networking components?

Active components need power and make decisions about traffic — switches, routers, access points, media converters, SFP transceivers. Passive components carry the signal without touching it — cable, jacks, outlets, face plates, patch cords, panels, racks and fiber. Active kit is replaced on a refresh cycle; passive cabling stays in the walls for fifteen years, which is why it is worth specifying carefully.

How much Cat6 cable do I need for my office?

Work from the outlet count, not the floor area. Add up the route length for every outlet back to the rack, then add 10 to 15% for routing, slack and termination. Buy by the box and confirm no single permanent link exceeds 90 metres — beyond that you need a closer switch or a fiber run.

Should I use solid or stranded Cat6 cable?

Solid conductor for permanent in-wall links, punched down into jacks and patch panels. Stranded for patch cords, which flex. Crimping an RJ45 plug onto solid cable is the shortcut that passes on the day and fails a year later, so use a jack at the outlet and a factory cord at the desk.

Is copper-clad aluminium Cat6 cable acceptable?

It is cheaper and legal to sell, but it carries less power and breaks more easily at the punch-down. On a PoE run it is the difference between a camera that holds through the night and one that drops when infrared raises the draw. We supply full-size pure copper, and it is worth checking the box rather than the shelf label wherever you buy.

Do you supply network racks and cable managers?

Yes — wall-mount racks including 9U with 600 mm depth, horizontal cable management organisers, and 6-socket PDUs with a 16 A MCB and indicator. Depth matters more than height on a wall rack, since it decides whether a switch with rear-facing ports lets the door close.

Do you supply fiber patch cords?

Yes — LC to LC and SC to SC fiber patch cords, and we source OFC cable, LIU enclosures, pigtails, adapters and fiber accessories for project requirements. Connector type has to match the LIU and the transceiver at both ends, so send the models rather than just the length.

Which brands of networking products do you supply?

Molex, Honeywell, CommScope and D-Link across the copper range, with Netrack for cable management and PDUs and Netfox for wall-mount racks. Where a project needs an approved-list jack for a channel warranty, tell us at quoting time and we will match it rather than substitute.

Do you provide installation, testing and maintenance?

Yes to all three. Alongside supply we carry out cable pulling, outlet and panel termination, labelling, rack build, fiber splicing, and link testing and certification, with as-built documentation at handover. After that we offer annual maintenance contracts covering diagnostics, re-termination and patching changes, backed by 24×7 emergency restoration.

How many patch cords do I need?

Two per outlet — one from the desk or device to the wall socket, one from the patch panel to the switch. Buy the lengths you actually need rather than one long size for everything, because coiled slack behind a rack is a common cause of a link failing certification later.

Can you quote against our BOQ?

Yes. Send the BOQ as it stands and we quote line by line against your model numbers, flag anything discontinued with an equivalent, and confirm what is in stock against what needs an indent. Project pricing is held for the duration rather than requoted per despatch.
